The Health Education Committee serves as:

  • A forum for the exchange of information.
  • An opportunity to educate the public health workforce and other health professionals by increasing the competency, skills and performance as they relate to the core public health essential services.
  • A networking opportunity for public health professionals that are employed in a variety of settings including: local/state health departments, non-profit and not-for-profit organizations, community based organizations, clinical practice, academia and other healthcare settings.

Joining the Health Education Committee:

The HEC is working on a new and improved role in 2020, and we need your help and input to assist with the transformation. What would you like to see from the HEC in 2020? Webinars and continuing education opportunities? Networking opportunities for Health Education professionals? Networking for public health professionals in all specialty areas? News updates and other information? We want to hear from you. There are two ways to provide input:

  1. Join the small team of CPHA members planning and implementing changes for the HEC in the coming year. Contact Chantelle Archer (carcher10@gmail.com) and/or Kelley Meier (kmeier@townofstratford.com) if you are interested in participating.
  2. Complete the short survey to tell us more about how you think the HEC can be valuable to all public health professionals. It is available online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CPHA_HEC. Paper copies have also been provided at today’s meeting along with the program evaluations.

CHES Credits

Certified health education specialist (CHES) credits are offered to all HEC webinar attendees. CPHA members can purchase credits at a discounted rate ($3 administrative fee per credit vs. $6 per credit for non-members). Each meeting/webinar generally has two speakers, each presenting for 1 credit hour. After completing an evaluation for the webinar on CT TRAIN, attendees can pay for CHES credits on the CPHA website. Click here to purchase HEC CHES credits.

Fill out this Continuing Education Evaluation Form for HEC meetings to earn CHES credits.
